Publisher Note

Noi is a photobook that tells the confident gaze of a generation of women ready to do anything for a change, but also the intimate gaze of someone who, just twenty, was looking for her own identity among shared ideals and, lastly, the private curiosity that rummages in a box within the home walls, uncovering a tangle of lives.

1978 represented, in Italy, the last year of the feminist protest movement that had begun a decade earlier. This collective struggle radically changed the presence of women in society, leading to many civil and political achievements, among which was the approval of new laws such as those regulating abortion and divorce.
Back then, Marisa Licini was twenty. She portrayed those days on a roll film.
These pictures were found by Nicoletta Grillo, her daughter, forty years later.
